About the Training School

The next WIMANET Summer School will take place from 7 to 11 September 2026 in Doñana and Seville, hosted by the Doñana Biological Station. This edition will offer an intensive and comprehensive exploration of vectors of wildlife malaria parasites. Participants will receive hands‑on training in traditional vector‑capture methodologies, morphological and molecular identification of parasites, blood‑meal source analysis, and experimental approaches for evaluating vector competence.
In addition, the program will introduce participants to state‑of‑the‑art omics and bioinformatic techniques applied to the study of avian malaria parasites and their vectors. This summer school will bring together leading experts in the field, providing an exceptional opportunity for students and early‑career researchers to gain advanced skills and engage with cutting‑edge research in one of Europe’s most iconic biodiversity hotspots.

Note: Funding applications for the pre-conference summer school, the conference, and the 3rd Summer Training School must be submitted as separate applications.

The call for applications for the Wildlife Malaria Network pre-conference Summer Training School will open on 16th March 2026 and close on 16th April 2026.
